HLA Members Terri, Norm, Ilene and Kevin in November 2007 were taking
a last cruise of the season around the lake and seen this amazing site.
This is taken in Zone 6.  A herd of deer crossing to the other side. I have
also seen crossings in Zone 2. This is such an amazing site to witness.
Thank you Terri for your pictures and sharing them with us.
We have the house on the point with the tall lighthouse..in the cove near Goose Neck Point.
This morning..Nov. 23rd..I took video and still photos of 8 Bald Eagles together on the ice near Goose Neck
point. It was amazing! We saw 2 together on the ice last winter (I have on video) and frequently see Bald Eagles
in front of our house. We had an immature Bald Eagle sitting on the ground out on our hill last spring. I thought it
was a Golden Eagle because it did not have a white head and tail. However, I looked it up on the Internet and
found that instead it was an immature Bald Eagle. I do believe that is what I filmed today.

Our membership is made of residents and friends who have a common goal and interest,
the protection of Holloway Lake and its’ surrounding areas.  It has come to our attention
that there is those who are dumping their yard waste, broken concrete, bricks, discarded
pieces of lawn timber and metal at various locations around the lake.  We, as guardian’s
of the lake, are outraged by these actions.  Further, we ask all HLA members to make sure
they are not part of the problem and to immediately report to the Parks (via 911) any
violations that they witness.

Amy McMillan, Genesee County Parks Director, dispatched workers, to clean up the mess,
at the last dumping site as soon as she was notified.  County Parks employees spent
nearly three days removing the refuse and posting a  “No Dumping Sign”.  At a time when
the parks are facing reduced funding and manpower, assigning personnel to clean up
these man made messes is a waste of valuable resources.

It has come to our attention that at least one violator may have found a new dumping
location on park property.  This cannot be tolerated.  Park Rangers will cite anyone
dumping on Park Property if they are notified, but they need our help.  They need
witnesses willing to step up and call the Rangers so that offenders can be caught in the
act or to identify the offenders after the fact.  Otherwise, Park Officials efforts to thwart
these actions are reduced to trying to get a confession from the offenders after the fact
with little or no hard evidence.

If you witness anyone dumping and have difficulty immediately calling authorities please
consider an alternative, take a picture of the offender in the act (with your camera or cell
phone) and e-mail or (snail) mail it to AmyMcMillan@geneseecounty.org or Julie Brandon,
HLA Secretary (through this website) with a short note giving the license plate number,
name of offender (if known), date, time and location of the offense and it will be handled
from there.
